Runestone

This maxicard is from a 5v 'Historic Manuscripts' set. It shows the Kirkjubour or Sandavagur runestone, which was found in 1832 having been reused in a church. The inscription relays a Norseman's claim to the area as one of the first settlers c. 13th century. Issued: October 19 1981.
