Thank you Yuri! What an interesting set. With the illustrations featuring prominently on the the stamps, and the maxi-cards are the tab illustration zoomed. It is always fascinating to see how designers grapple with taking a fragmented archaeological scene and making it colourful and relatable. The artist, D. Ben Hador, a prolific stamp designer did a great job of awakening the past, and showing the variety of theatre entertainment in the Roman Period.
Betit
Guvrin Theatre. This amphitheater was not rediscovered until the 1990s!
Built in the 2nd cent., it held up t 3,500 attendees, and its usage was
possibly terminated by the Galilee earthquake of 363.
Hippodrome,
Caesarea. This 2nd cent. hippodrome is in the spectacular oceanfront
national park of Caesarea Martima, just south of the modern city of
Caesarea.
Beit
She'an Theatre is located in the national park of the same name. This
2nd cent. theatre was built for an 8,000 person capacity.
OFDC issued December 19 2017. I'm guessing the background is the Beit She'an Theatre?
