The famous Boxers fresco from the 1973 'Archaeological Objects from Thera' 7v issue. The fresco dates from c.16th cent BCE and depicts two young boys boxing. Despite its age, it still appears fresh as the ash and pumice from the devastating eruption helped protect the art.
Thank you Flavio! Full view of the Boxers on an Europe rated ATM. Despite the '2002' on the label, this actually dates from 2003. The difference between these two years, is on the later version the boxer's feet are standing on a raised floor. In the 2002 edition, the boxer's feet are flush against the bottom of the ATM, with no 'raised floor'. A minimum of three varieties from 2003 exist (excluding denominations).
