Golden Gate

Thank you Alexander! The cachet shows the Golden Gate in Kiev, the once fortress turned museum.  Built 1000 years ago, it suffered damages by the Golden Horde, and fell into disrepair over the centuries.  In 1832 the remains were excavated, and a conservation survey effort was undertaken. With few hints as to the original structure of the Gate, this current re-reconstruction was completed in 1982.
