Great Moravia

Thank you Michal! This 2008 stamp features 1 of 6 gilded copper plaques, which were found in the 9th cent. Bonja I Hill Fort. The coin on the cachet of the FDC is a grave good from Mikulcice, with its obverse as the cancellation.
Thank you Vera! What a this tidy excavation! This postcard with a view of the Princely Palace in Mikulcice does a good job of showing the expanse of the site. Mikulcice was a large fortified settlement from the 3rd-10th cent., forming part of Great Moravia. It contained over this palace, a minimum of 12 churches and over 2,500 burials were uncovered.
