Thank you Zeljko! In 1940, soldiers dislodged this hand axe on the 2004 cancel while putting in artillery positions. It is the earliest evidence for homo presence in Saarland. How it was not pocketed during wartime and resides now in the Museum of Pre and Early History in Berlin is astonishing to me. Does its public survival attest to the Ahnenerbe influence?
