Photocard of the theater in the city of Epidarus. It holds 14,000 spectators and was built in the 4th cent BCE. The break in top section of seating is likely where the Romans added 21 rows onto the existing 34 Greek rows.
Two stamps from the 5v 'Ancient Greek Theater' set. A tragedy mask on left, and at right a scene from a play?
A few years ago I visited this theater on vacation: it is the biggest I have seen in Greece, its environment is not the most beautiful but it has wonderful acoustics as you can hear the noise when a coin hits the floor from anywhere in the theater like If you were in the front row I attest to it.
