Hei-tikis

Thank you Mary for this maxicard! I don't know if the greenstone hei-tiki (pendant) on the card is modern or pre contact. Pounamu is the Maori word for a hard green stone, such as nephrite/jade, serpentine and brownite. While celebrated for its lustrous green colour, the jade found in large outcrops on the South Island's west coast can vary in tint and be shades of black to white. Find the complete 'Maori Crafts' 6v stamp set here. Issued: February 21 1996.
From the 1968 2v definitives. More hei-tiki stamps here.
