Thank you Mary for this maxicard! I don't know if the greenstone hei-tiki (pendant) on the card is modern or pre contact. Pounamu is the Maori word for a hard green stone, such as nephrite/jade, serpentine and brownite. While celebrated for its lustrous green colour, the jade found in large outcrops on the South Island's west coast can vary in tint and be shades of black to white.
